I'm Marga, I'm 24 years old and I'm from Mallorca. I consider myself an analytical person and passionate about technology. Since high school I’ve focused on the area of technological studies, and during my first year of University I started a career in Telecommunications Engineering at Pompeu Fabra University.
During that year I had many concerns about Communication and I didn't see my professional future as an Engineer, so I decided to study Communication at Blanquerna (Ramon Llull University). It seemed like a super interesting field in which, although it had nothing to do with my initial interests, I did see job opportunities that motivated me.
I finished my four-year degree and during my first internship I got into the world of Digital Marketing. I started my professional career at Nebext as a digital content creator. To gain a little more knowledge, I did a postgraduate specialization in Marketing and then started working at Adsmurai, a technology company that develops products to improve the optimization of social media campaigns. While working at Adsmurai I decided to turn my studies around again and delve into the world of data analysis.
Working as Digital Client Solutions I saw the importance of data when interpreting results and making decisions. Getting a good understanding of how to work with them became a challenge for me.
That was when I decided to do a Data Science graduate degree at All Women in Tech. The graduate degree was super interesting and made me understand the logic and statistics behind data algorithms. Thanks to graduate school I was able to put all this knowledge into practice.
Barcelona is a very strong startup and technology hub. There are associations like Barcelona Tech City that host many companies to help boost their growth. There is also the ACCIÓ agency of the Generalitat de Catalunya that encourages innovation in companies.
Adsmurai has always promoted the role of women in the company. We have quite high ratios of women in the workforce. It is true that the department where most of the women work is Marketing, and in the product department there are currently very few women, but I think the problem is that there are not many female profiles for these positions yet. Luckily, I have never had any gender issues.
If it were up to me, I would rather there was more gender diversity in every work team. Having diverse profiles in the projects does nothing more than enrich the work.
What motivates me about the current COVID-19 situation we are experiencing is that the remote working conditions and the digitization that companies have had to face in order to adapt to this new scenario was something that seemed impossible just a few months ago and it has been shown that it is possible and even more efficient in some areas.
We are breaking many barriers of the conventional work system. This favors innovation and above all encourage us to think about really important issues such as climate change awareness or the conditions of workers.
In 5 years I would like to be working on some interesting Data Analytics project in Barcelona or some other interesting city.
Since the confinement, I have begun giving extra priority to basic things such as food and daily physical exercise and I have finally found some time to read. You can be happy with fewer things.
